Mayor Vernon Myers

Mayor Myers was born in Houston, Texas and has resided in Palatka since June of 1990. He retired from Putnam State Bank in 2006, after serving as President, Chief Executive Officer, and Director for sixteen years. He and his wife own and operate the Dunkin Doughnuts/Baskin Robbins, and Myers Resources L.L.C., a business and financial services firm.

Vice Mayor Mary Lawson- Brown

Now in her 20thplus year, Mrs. Brown was born in Palatka and runs the E.W. Lawson & Son Funeral Home and Cemetery, a family business that was founded by her grandparents in 1958.

Mrs. Brown’s education includes a Bachelor’s of Arts from Florida A&M University and a Master’s of Science from the Worsham College of Mortuary Science.

Commissioner Allegra Kitchens

Commissioner Kitchens retired the spring of 2005 after 36 years as a deed worker in the Putnam County Property Appraiser’s office. Mrs. Kitchens has served on numerous committees, including the City Codes Enforcement Board and the Better Place Plan Oversight Committee.

Commissioner Phil Leary, AICP

President, Leary Governmental Affairs Consultants, Inc., representing private sector clients on legislative, environmental, public policy, and land use issues at local, state and federal government levels. Specific areas of representation include environmental regulatory programs, legislation, planning/zoning and agricultural policy issues.

From 1993 to 2004 served as Director, Government & Community Affairs for the Florida Farm Bureau Federation, the largest general farm membership organization in the state of Florida.  Represented Farm Bureau policy positions as they pertained to Local Government, State Legislature and U. S. Congress.  Direct responsibility for agriculture production issues relating to regulatory agency rule making and implementation.

Formerly, Planning & Development Director for Clay and Putnam Counties respectively, and worked four years as Water Resource Specialist with St. Johns River Water Management District.
