In the wake of our recent storms and hurricanes, local contractors have been busy. Jonathan Zachem, the Secretary of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) wants our citizens to know that they need to hire ONLY licensed contractors to undertake any repairs or upgrades to their property and structures that may be needed as a result of Hurricane Irma or any other weather emergencies during this active storm season.
Red flags that could indicate activity from an unlicensed contractor include:
Demanding full payment upfront
Lack of a Written Contract
Advertising without a Florida license number
Requesting cash only
Using high pressure sales tactics
