Contractors for the City of Palatka will begin work on updating walkways on 8th Street, between Oak Street and St. Johns Avenue, beginning Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023. The project will replace the pedestrian sidewalks, define vehicle street parking, and ensure the streets conform to the federal Americans with Disability Act standards along the block. The work is scheduled to be completed in four weeks and will be conducted in phases to minimize disruptions to businesses and residents.
After the work on 8th Street is completed, the project will continue on 7th Street, between Oak Street and St. Johns Avenue.
These projects are part of the City of Palatka’s ongoing effort to revitalize the St. Johns Avenue corridor. The continuing project will include resurfacing the street, replacing curbs, landscaping, and irrigation down St. Johns Avenue from the railroad track to the Riverfront.
