Local officials, clergy, law enforcement agencies, community organizations, and residents gather together in the C.L. Overturf District Center gymnasium in Palatka on Saturday to discuss and find solutions to the problem of violence in our community.
The event, sponsored by Commissioner Tammie McCaskill, will be the first of several events to unearth the root causes of violence in our community and develop comprehensive, sustainable solutions.
Participants in the event included Putnam County School Superintendent Rick Surrency, Palatka Police Chief Jason Shaw, representatives from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, members of various community groups, Palatka Mayor Robbi Correa, and Commissioners Justin Campbell, Will Jones, and Rufus Borom all sharing a common vision of making Palatka a safer and more prosperous place for its residents.
Commissioner McCaskill emphasized the importance of community-wide cooperation and expressed optimism about the positive impact this collective effort could have on addressing the issue of violence. “Our community is stronger when we come together to tackle our challenges head-on,” she said.
