Residential and Commercial Garbage Collection
The City of Palatka provides Residential and Commercial garbage collection services within city limits. To determine your collection day, please contact Public Works at (386) 329-0107.
- Residential Garbage Collection: Residential garbage and horticultural waste are collected on the same day. Additional horticultural waste collection occurs on Wednesdays as needed.
- Commercial Garbage Collection: Services are available on a 5-day (Monday through Friday) or a 6-day (Monday through Saturday) schedule.

Horticultural Waste / Yard Debris
Horticultural waste includes grass clippings, small tree limbs, and leaves. Please follow these guidelines:
- Limbs: Maximum size is 4 feet in length and 4 inches in diameter.
- Placement: Create small piles clear of obstructions such as signs, mailboxes, or overhead lines.
- Bagged Leaves: Use paper bags only (plastic bags are not accepted).
- Large Piles: Piles exceeding 1 cubic yard (3’x3’x3’) must be scheduled for collection by contacting Public Works.
Important: Contractors performing yard work are required to remove and dispose of all generated debris.
Bulk Waste Collection
The City offers a scheduled bulk waste collection for items not included in normal pickup, such as:
- White goods (e.g., refrigerators, stoves)
- Large tree limbs
- Furniture
- Tenant move-out piles
How it Works:
- Contact Public Works to schedule a bulk waste pickup.
- Once scheduled, place items curbside. Debris must be clear of obstructions.
- A collection fee per cubic yard will be added to your next utility bill.
Assisted or Backdoor Collection
Assisted collection is available for elderly, disabled, or otherwise physically unable residents. Contact Public Works at (386) 329-0107 to request this service.

Residential containers are for regular household garbage. Do not dispose of dead animals, yard debris, hazardous waste, hot ashes, or flammable liquids in your garbage container. - Do I take my container when I move?
No. Containers are assigned to the property and must remain at the address. - How do I repair or replace my cart?
Contact Public Works at (386) 329-0107 for repairs or replacements. - Where and when should I place my container?
- Place containers curbside before 5 a.m. on your scheduled collection day.
- Follow instructions on the container lid for proper placement.
- Remove containers from the curb by 9 p.m. on the same day.

- Veterans Day
- Thanksgiving Day & Day After
- Christmas Eve & Christmas Day
Holiday Adjustments:
- If a holiday falls on your collection day, services will be delayed to the next working day.
- Example: If Monday is a holiday, Monday's collection will occur on Tuesday, and Tuesday’s collection will occur on Wednesday.
- Essential healthcare facilities are excluded from holiday adjustments.
