The City of Palatka joins the community in mourning the death of Datwan K. Lewis, Sr. We extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to the family of Mr. Lewis. We encourage prayers for the bereaved family, the officers involved, and the community as a whole.

Pursuant to Florida law, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement will be conducting a thorough investigation into the facts surrounding this tragic incident. Individuals with any information concerning the officer-involved shooting should contact the Florida Department of Law Enforcement immediately.

These unfortunate circumstances often leave us with many questions and concerns about unknown facts. It is incumbent upon our community to galvanize and unite during times of crisis. We must diligently exercise faith and compassion for all parties affected.
