[ARCHIVED] Precautionary Boil Water Notice

At approximately 8:30pm on Thursday, September 18, 2014, there was a loss of pressure in the City’s Water Distribution System due to a power outage caused by a lightning strike at the Water Treatment Plant. With the loss of pressure there is a possibility that the water may have become contaminated with harmful bacteria. Therefore, the City is issuing a precautionary boil water notice to all of its customers. You are hereby advised to boil any water used for human consumption for a period of at least three minutes before using. Boiling the water will destroy any harmful microorganisms that may be present in the water. The water may be safely used for bathing and laundering purposes.

Be assured that every effort is being made to remedy the situation as soon as possible. We are conducting Bacteriological testing on the water throughout the City to ensure that the water has not been contaminated. As soon as we receive the testing results indicating that the water is safe to drink, you will be notified.

We apologize for the inconvenience; however, the safety of our consumers is of paramount importance to us. If you have any questions, contact the City of Palatka Water Treatment Plant at 386-329-0144.
