[ARCHIVED] Event Cancellation

Event Cancellation
As many of you are aware, I personally, and I think the Palatka City Commission as a whole, are very interested in sponsoring community events – especially those which serve children.  For that reason, I have in the past and planned this year to hold an event which we named “Commissioner Movie Night with Commissioner Campbell”.  The event had been scheduled to take place beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening, August 6, 2021.  However, in view of the alarming rise in new Covid-19 cases in our community, I believe that it is in the best interest of our citizens, and particularly our children, to postpone the “Movie Night” event at this time and avoid the risk of Covid-19 exposure which could occur with a large gathering of people.  This is a time for all citizens to act responsibly in an effort to slow the spread of Covid-19 which is causing so much sickness and sorrow in our community.  As much as I would like to see “Movie Night” occur as scheduled, I don’t believe that holding the event at this time would be setting the example expected of the City and of this Commissioner.  I apologize for any inconvenience that cancellation of the event may cause and ask for your understanding.
Respectfully,
Commissioner Justin Campbell.
