City of Palatka awarded multiple grants to replace water mains on Madison Street and St. Johns Avenue as well as make improvements to the Water Treatment Plant totaling $1,805,518.

                        

Governor Ron DeSantis awarded more than $7.1 Million to Florida Communities through the Rural Infrastructure Fund and more than $35 million to 48 Florida communities through Florida Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) both RIF and CDBG are administered by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO The City of Palatka will receive an award of $750,000 through the Florida Small Cities CDBG Program for water main replacement and improvements at the Water Treatment Plant and $555,518 for water main replacement.

 

The St Johns River Water Management District, at the May 10, 2022, meeting, presented to the Governing Board the list of Alternative Water Supply projects for FDEP funding consideration and the District’s Governing Board approved submittal of projects for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s (FDEP) Alternative Water Supply Program. The FDEP has approved AWS funding of $500,000 for Palatka water main improvements.

 

These grants will fund the Madison Street Potable Water Line Project (N. 6th to N. 11th Streets), St Johns Avenue Water Main Replacement (from Palm to Moseley) and improvements at the Water Treatment Plant. All the projects are slated for construction in 2023.
