Work to install new lights on St. Johns Avenue continues
The contractor working for Florida Power and Light to replace the streetlights lining St. Johns Avenue in Palatka has announced dates for specific locations of work on the project.
- July 19 to 20 – South side of St. Johns Ave. at 4th Street and the north side of the street at 5th Street.
- July 24 to 27 – South side of St. Johns Ave. at 5th and 6th Streets and the north side at 6th Street.
- July 31 to Aug. 4 – North and south sides of St. Johns Ave. between 9th and 10th Streets.
The exact dates and scheduling of this work are subject to change.
Work on this project may cause temporary sidewalk closings and disruptions to traffic, and every effort will be made to keep them to a minimum. No road closures are planned.
“We understand that a project like this can be an inconvenience to people and businesses, but we will work very hard to keep the disruptions to a minimum,” said Jake Marshal, a manager for the contractor doing the work for FPL.
The installation of the lights is part of a larger multimillion-dollar project to make improvements to St. Johns Avenue in downtown Palatka that includes new landscaping, sidewalks, curbs, intersections, and benches.
